Hermosa Beach isn’t just a paradise for surfers and nightlife lovers—it’s also packed with family-friendly restaurants and easygoing cafes perfect for kids and parents alike. Whether you’re looking for a spot with highchairs, a relaxed atmosphere, or a place where toddlers can roam, my list has you covered (I’m a mom of boys so I have tried all these places).

So a little about myself is that I am a mom (boys) and I was lucky enough that with my career and life I was able to spend time with them…all the time. We went to cafés and restaurants constantly, because being outdoors was the place to always be and kids are always hungry!
With that said, I have the experience and expertise in where to eat with kids in Hermosa Beach. When my babies were still in that stage of feedings, changes, and just evolving…there were a few places we loved to go that helped me as a parent.
I also love the variety of places to eat in Hermosa with kids as they grow. Check out my fave spots that are nice for parents and the kids, lending towards the nuances of dining out with children because we all know that they sometimes have a plan of their own. Here we go…
Family Friendly Restaurants
Martha’s 22nd Street Grill
I took my babies to Martha’s and haven’t stopped going there since. It’s a beautiful spot, clean, spacious inside with big booths, and outdoor seating for ocean breezes.
The vibe is really great during the week and when my children were super little, we would sit outside and the highchair would be next to me. There is a kid’s menu and the atmosphere is friendly. If my kid was fussy, it was easy for me to step outside and get back in without issue.
The big booths are perfect as well, because kids have space and there is a lot of room for the food and drinks.
The bar is also nice. Once my kids could sit in the high bar stool, it’s fun to have a quick and casual bite there.
Till this day, I love to come here with my kids and it’s always a great place. I will recommend allowing time to wait because it is VERY busy, especially on weekends
- Type of Food: Breakfast, brunch, and American classics. The fries are so good!
- Seating: Both indoor and patio seating.
- Atmosphere: Laid-back, casual, and perfect for families. They allow dogs on the patio. It is literally next to The Strand and sand, so you can play or walk while you wait.
- Price Range: $$
- Amenities: Coloring sheets and crayons for kids, Highchairs available, friendly service, and generous portions.
- Parents Tips: Don’t go when your kids are starving…because there is a wait to be seated and also it’s a busy restaurant. Snacks are good to have on hand, or go play at the beach before getting seated.
Good Stuff Restaurant
Beachside! You can see and practically feel the ocean from The Good Stuff, located right on The Strand in Hermosa Beach. It’s great for little to big kids and works for grabbing a bite, then hitting the sand right away.
When my kids were really little, I liked that there is picnic table seating because they couldn’t sit still at times, and the setting was casual allowing them to settle in and get comfortable. If I needed to, my partner could take the kids and I can still finish my meal and they can just be there at the beach.
Super easy and a great spot for busy parents and busy kids.
- Type of Food: Healthy Californian cuisine, breakfast, and comfort food like waffles, breakfast burritos, tacos. The kids menu has a lot of choices from Mickey.pancakes to sliders.

El Tarasco
This is a great Mexican restaurant that is perfect for airy, breezy, outdoor seating and an open-air feel. I always come here because I can enjoy chips and salsa and my kids can get simple quesadillas or easy to eat meals here.
The spacious restaurant is comfortable for a family or group, located up Pier Ave away from the busy center of the Plaza.

- Atmosphere: Relaxed and cozy with a fresh coastal vibe.

Family Friendly Easy Cafés
The Source Café
This was my stroller walk stop forever. You can walk in and grab smoothies, coffee, and small bites very easily. The seating is casual, there is a restroom, self serve water, and the menu is nice for to-go beverages.
I suggest this place as a quick stop, on the go type of place to get juices, pastries, and small bites while on your trip down to the beach.

Java Man Coffee House
My spot! Coffee galore! You can pick out pastries or granola yogurt parfaits and be on your way. On rainy days I’ve sat many a times on the couch that is in a cute, cozy, living room inspired section of the indoor cafe.
There are a some outdoor seats and it is a very neighborhood, local, and super casual spot that is perfect to go to with kids and babies.

JUICE on Pier Plaza

I love JUICE…the smoothies, acai bowls, and bites are fresh. The owner is super nice and this is the spot for local and visitors to check out if you want a healthy, but yummy treat.
It’s right on Pier Plaza…so aprés beach is perfect to visit this place.
My kids love the acai bowls, as do I. They are loaded with lots of fruit and a generous size.

Paisano’s Pizza and Pasta
The name says it all…pizza and pasta. You can’t go wrong here. It’s so casual, right by Pier Plaza, and perfect to go to with kids. My kids and I LOVE the pizza by the slice here. The slices are huge and it’s a really easy place to eat and go.
